Front Church Condo
Toronto

Development study

The site is in one of Toronto's oldest districts and very prominent. Several development options for a large mixed use/residential building were prepared and tested with the city's urban design department. The final scheme is divided into 3 portions: a low L-shaped building continuing the line, height, materials and general proportions of the buildings on Front, a tall, relatively thin tower towards the south end of the site (where existing buildings rise from 12 to 40 storeys) and a Victorian factory, retained and repaired at the site's southern edge on The Esplanade. A small, landscaped courtyard on Church Street is created between the tower and the Front Street building.
