Connecting an existing parking garage and rail platforms, this enclosed pedestrian bridge and its paired stairways were built above and beside the operating CN main tracks. With its crisp geometries, white cladding and glass, the overpass is related visually to the existing white station buildings and platform structures built in the 60s and 70s at Burlington.
The bridge, a gigantic tube truss, was shop-fabricated in three parts, bolted together on-site and hoisted in one lift onto concrete piers. The floor of the bridge slopes up from the garage to clear the trains below. A maintenance catwalk for window washing is cantilevered off its sides.
