Studio space in a converted Victorian factory

The client designs and maintains web sites for large national and multinational businesses.

Modest materials and detailing—painted drywall and simple, stained fir plywood panels—complement rather than contrast with the roughish, unrefined nature of the existing spaces. At the same time, the new is clearly differentiated from the old, so as not to obscure the many adaptations and changes that have occurred in the life of the building, the visible evidence of which gives these old factories such character.
